Monday's Delay
Back again, trying hard to wait-out major thunderstorms rolling through Glen Ellyn. I've been awake since 4:30am trying to go outside and bike about 15 miles but the weather has me hijacked. So it is now time to update my friend, the Blog, on several things. First, it's been a good July. My weight-loss challenge continued to progress well. At my last WWWI (Weight Watchers Weigh In) I was within 2 ounces of 200 pounds. I'm proud of my success but now the hard part begins. The pursuit of 180 will not be easy.
For the second year in a row I visited the EAA AirVenture air-show in Oshkosh, WI. It was a wonderful day with Wesley and Tom Schultz. I hadn't seen Tom since 1963 but the chemistry was still there and we had a fun time just like junior high. On the way home, Wesley and I joined Lauren for a dinner in Kenosha.
Financially, things could be better. My finite funds are starting to diminish and I must decide on a course of action to address the issue. Realisticly, I'm good for another 90-120 days but then the bank is empty. You must be proactive on this matter, don't let it get out of control.
With respect to my health, things appear OK but I'm concerned about some my running. Am I getting slower due to my age or my health? My long runs are getting longer but I'm walking more. Is it due to the heat and a lack of mental toughness?
Or is it due to I'm a few years older and several seconds slower than the last time I trained for a marathon.
I'm eager to go to Saugatuck this week with Ralph and Melissa Alexander and Wesley. We are going up to take a look at the Lincoln Towncar. Ralph may buy it. I'll check out the townhouse and see what needs to be done to use it for the Grand Rapids race weekend.
Well, it's getting better outside. Time for some exercise. Keep the Faith and Peace. Over.
