Every Ninety Days - One More Time
Hello, my friend, I'm back. Not all the way back, but still in the game. As a result of the motorcycle accident, my leg is still less than one hundred percent. It's very tough to walk more than a couple of miles without significant discomfort and running is still not an option. My weight is not where it should be, what else is new? A new battle against headaches is active. Not sure what it is but I am happy to see my Cardiologist in three weeks. Some major changes have unfolded. Sam and Charlotte, my feline friends, have now successfully relocated to Stuart, FL. Actually, that challenge went about as smoothly as possible. The Chief's Estate Administration is proceeding along at a snail's pace. Lauren is out of work as Wirtz Beverage let her go due to a change in marketing strategy. Patrick is done with his fall semester at the University of Iowa, hopefully with passing grades. I am back in Glen Ellyn after enjoying over a month in Florida. Even though it has been a very, very mild start to the Winter here in Illinois, I can see why old people head to the South. Heavy overcast, cold rain and many layers of clothes just doesn't do it anymore. While I love the four seasons, I miss the Sun! I am still battling the same habits of procrastination, minimal exercise, declining health and Christmas time blues. Everything is a choice, but I really struggle to make the best ones for me. The good news is I get to give to those who deserve it. I was able to get Kathy into Mayo Clinic for a complete assessment on her Skin Cancer. I am covering Jennifer's therapy bills as she works her way out of a horrific relationship. I established deeper ties to Dexter, Kansas, by giving several thousand dollars to Bob and Margaret Massey's Timberlake Ranch Camp project. Hopefully, they will allow me to participate more actively in 2012. On a lesser note, I am paying far too much in daily expenses for both my children and, therefore, Christmas presents will be non-existent this year. Lauren and Patrick have no clue what it means when people say 'times are tough'. I am fearful that 2012 may provide a better learning experience along those lines for them. I am worried big-time about the political and economic future of the USA. Our political gridlock and lack of Presidential leadership has really caused chaos everywhere. A return to the core principles of Family, Faith and Hard Work is required. Only one hang-up. I am almost sixty four and in fragile health. Take it one Day at a Time and build some positive momentum heading into the New Year! Over, the Ricky.
