Friends and Vacation
Hello, again. Amazingly, it has been four weeks since my last post and it seems like a lifetime. In between, I have been to Colorado, Florida, and have been challenged by my son leaving home for college and my Mother leaving this thing called life very, very slowly. Today, I want to share with you the positive aspects of taking a vacation with friends. From August 5th to August 12th I shared a Breckenridge, Colorado, home with 10 others. It was a real happening! We would have made a really good TV reality show and called it Diversity. Nothing but humor, positive energy, and challenging hiking resulted in a great break for all of us!
Gopala, his daughter, and I successfully hiked Quandry Peak right up to it's 14,265 foot summit! Pearl and Ramesh decided the view from 13,000 feet was good enough and turned back to save themselves for another day. Our hiking was followed by a great evening out watching the Cubs clobber the Rockies at Coors Field. Then we stayed at the finest bed and breakfast in Spring Ranch....Chuck Barton's 6800 square foot mansion! The next day we visited the Air Force Academy, Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs and traveled the long way returning to Breckenridge. What a wonderful time together. Entertaining, enriching, and memorable would be the best words to describe this year's vacation. We had so much fun we'll have to do it again sometime. Lastly, I would like to offer a word of thanks to Helga, my seventeen year old Mercedes who handled the almost 3000 miles without a hitch! For this I am also very thankful. Until the next time, over and out. Ricky
