End of the Line, Hilltoppers Lose
Hello, my friend the Blog. It is time for a quick ramble. I am thawing out in front of my desk top after 4 hours outdoors at the Glenbard West vs East St.Louis football game in Glen Ellyn. The Hilltoppers lost 20-27, but it was a respectable effort and an outstanding season finishing 13 wins and 1 loss. The best team won today but the Hitters didn't help themselves with many unforced penalties and turnovers. Patrick returned for Thanksgiving and was able to attend. Lauren's too far removed from GWHS to freeze for sake of football. But it was a great game and a memorable way to end the season.
Quickly, things remain the same down South. Dad's hanging on strong but he's really concerned about the markets and how much wealth has just evaporated from his equity holdings. I'm traveling back to Florida for Thanksgiving and we are entertaining his remaining siblings for dinner and extended visits. It will be good for him to see Francis, Travis and Elwin. And it will be eye-opening for them to see his physical condition. Pop and I had a good talk today by phone. I gave him a shot about leaving me and his grandchildren out of his biography. I'm sure it was purely an oversight. He took my comments well. I said the tone of his book was 'to be all you can be' and he certainly has done that. I informed him that he was one wonderful Father because why else would he be asked to be my Best Man in my wedding in 1970. Also, why would my son Patrick be named after him in 1988? Obviously, important matters but they just didn't get recognized in the early drafts of his biography. There is so much on his mind that I'm not surprised some things get confused or over-looked.
Well, I'm closing this ramble down. Time to grill a Saturday night steak, bake a potato, mix a salad and, maybe, attend a basketball game at Wheaton College.
Here's to you, Blog Buddy...over and out.
