Golf ... The Greatest Game

Hello my Friend. Just finished watching the British Open and I am smiling ... in fact, most people of Irish decent must be smiling!
Darren Clarke, at age 42 years young, won the Open Championship on his 20th attempt. There's something to be said for persistence. Golf has a way of carving champions out of the best of people. Clarke lost his wife to breast cancer about seven years ago and was never the same. He played, but his heart wasn't in it. He focused on his two sons and life became more important to him than just chasing a white ball in the cow pastures. Then, all of a sudden, the skills came back, the focus returned, the heart became engaged in the competition and ... Darren WON. I love it. The Good Guy wins one. It's what great about the game. Tiger dominates and now he is thisclose to bankruptcy. I love the game of Golf ... remember, it's FLOG spelled backwards. A wonderful way to spoil a nice walk. Golf. Doubt if I'll play again. Time is against me and there's a lot to do other than six or seven hours outside chasing a white ball. But, I love the GAME. It's the Greatest Game.

I Miss the Chief

Well, my friend, the big event has occurred. The Chief has joined my Mom once again. I miss him. He enjoyed 88 good years and 3 weeks from Hell. My step-Dad passed on June 8th after fighting a fatal staph infection for over eight weeks. He just ran out of reserves. Ellis couldn't muster the strength to keep going and died in his sleep with his family by his side. The church service was wonderful, the memorial luncheon went smoothly, and now the transition. It's hard and it's complicated. But we will succeed.
Those are know me understand the enormity of the change. Can I handle it? Only time will tell. Lord give me Strength to do what is right ... every time. Journaling is right. Keep it up. Don't get lazy or fearful. Just write, let your mind flow. The Truth will emerge and it is very therapeutic. Remember, Do not what others think as great, do what you think is Right. Over.
